Upper Río Vaupés, Colombia

We discovered this species here, in February 2017:



There is a small lake behind the trees. Not pure blackwater, but influenced by such.

Water parameters

PH : 4 - 6
ppm : Low

My Experience

There is a potential for aggression, even towards the opposite sex, but I have never seen any serious injuries.

Breeding

They breed if the environment is right. I keep them in very soft water with a pH between 4.5 to 5.5 and lots of humic substances. And of course fine sand with leaf litter as substrate. I also have many plants, including floating plants.
