Distribution and habitat
Amazon River basin in Brazil;
- the Río Tapajós drainage
- the Río Maués drainage
- the Río Javari drainage
Assumed to inhabit the entire part of the Amazon River and its tributaries between Belem and the Rio Javari (Brazil)
My Experience
Peacful.
Eat everything I offer, like BBS, discusbits, frozen mosquito larvaes etc.
I keep one pair in a 160 liter tank, with Nannostomus nitidus (which breed there too) as dithers. No other fish.
Breeding
Breed in very soft, peat-filtered water, with a pH of 5,2.
Female alone took care of the fry, which took newly hatched BBS as their first food.
