Distribution and habitat

Río Ucayali & Amazonas (Peru);
Rio Solimões (Brazil)

I have collected this species in many different habitats in the Peruvian Amazon the last years.
Se pictures of some of the habitats and fishes above.

Water parameters

PH : 5 - 7
ppm : Low to middle hard

My Experience

I have collected them in different habitats and different water:

From muddy whitish water to clear blackwater, in pH from 5,1 - 6,8. The water has always been quite soft.

They are a quite easy fish to keep, although the wild fish requires water quite close to the natural, to thrive.

Breeding

Breeds very easily. A polygamous species, but one pair kept alone also works fine. Often 50-80 fry.
