Distribution and habitat
Wide range in central and upper Amazon
My Experience
Very peaceful. They stay in the upper layers, preferably among plants, and take food from the surface or just below.
I give them BBS every day, but they eat what they get. Frozen mosquito larvae and adult Artemia are popular, and even small pieces of artificial Discus-bits are taken.
Males may chase each other a bit, but they don't defend any fixed territory.
Breeding
Breeds among plants where they attach the eggs on the underside of plant leaves.
A few fry grow up in my tanks every now and then.
